Keep an eye out because I intend to do a full feature on Dalby's in the future. Today, they were so busy, I didn't have the heart to break them off, and only had chance to pass my details forward with no real introduction from WW Scripts.

Among others called upon today were:

• D E Wood Dental Practice

• Barclays Bank

• XTG hairdressing

• The Nail base

• Haigh's Solicitors

• AKA Recruitment

• Badges and More

• The Stitch Witch

But the most memorable of all my visits today was when I called upon Eastthorpe Hall: a local enterprise offering holistic and therapeutic treatments. What a wonderful place for those who may be experiencing some form of stress or pressure in their day to day lives. I was made welcome by a lovely lady who showed me round. Believe me, anyone wanting to rejuvenate themselves in a tranquil and relaxing environment need go no further: the view into the rear gardens was enough to melt your heart.

Mirfield truly is a community based town which is largely hidden from those who choose to shop outside their local vicinity. Try shopping locally and you may find a social melting pot you never knew existed.

Do you love the community you live in? Do you realize that effect you can have on your community just by the shopping choices you make? There is a growing trend for shopping local and as people begin to understand the positive impact it has on the community, that trend will only continue to grow. By choosing to shop local you help your community in a variety of ways. Here are a few positive results that come from shopping local.

-Your money stays in your community. When you shop at a locally owned business that money stays in the community and those who run those companies stay in the neighborhood as well. Owners of local businesses want their communities to be strengthened because they are also part of the community. So the money they make will go back into the community and not to come big money-hungry national chain.

-Better customer service. When you go shopping at a local company you are treated like a member of the community, rather than just another customer. The owners are part of the community and they want to help create a sense of community, even in their business. You get treated better when you shop at a small, locally owned gift shop than you would at a big department store that has locations all over the world and is only focused on how much money they make.

-Variety: locally owned businesses offer a more unique blend of services. A local restaurant is more eclectic than a Mickey D's chain that offers the exact same things in each of its restaurants around the globe. A local book store offers books that are unique to your community and offers books from local authors as well as more well-known authors.

If you love your community and want it to blossom, choose to shop local. Explore the different local shops, enjoy the variety of local restaurants, and give your business to your neighbors rather than a business whose headquarters are somewhere across the country. Keep your money in your community.
